youme:us feeling each other out
As we move past one another
With gentle, innocuous questions about
Who we really are in this moment (to me, to you)
Can I share my past lives with you
And find solace in a better future:any future?
I want to feel you in the morning
when I stretch myself awake –
Your memory smells like the fresh rain of spring
When the air is cleared with the earth’s shower;
Nourishing and uplifting of mind:body:soul,
It washes over me as my lungs expand.
Expand with me across countries spread between
A simple distance between youme:us
And stretch past the differences time may impose
On us:youme rests a story to tell.
(whisper it against my pillow)
